CARL FREDMAN RESTS

The undersigned will gladly weave a little crown to the memory of Carl Fredman, so that it could be for those who are still on the pilgrim journey. Our friendship stretches bock nearly 30 years. It was in Lowry, Minnesota that we met for the first time; we were then both newly converted. I had written to Fredman that I was coming to hold meetings, and that was my first mission-trip to that part of the country, and for that matter, it was the first time I had been that far from my home on such an errand. I remember well when Fredman met me at the station. He carried a large Bible under his arm, one with stiff covers, all wrapped in a red handkerchief, so that the strangers would understand he was meeting with a "reader". We then held some meetings there, even with my weakness and bashfulness. God saw fit to bless us and we soon become well acquainted. After that we later met many times during my journeys. I therefore stayed with Fredman before he had a family, and often since, during those years. He was one of those quiet souls who hungered and thirsted after God, so that he could do His will. Yes, he was a man of peace. He always wanted to take part in some service for the Lord wherever he lived. This brother saw that his children were saved before he fell asleep. Think how great, and what a hope for the weary mother, to have her children with her on the journey home, soon to meet with those who have gone before. It has been said that he (Fredman) was unusually fearless and brave, happy and joyful to the last, knowing that there was power in the the blood of Jesus (to sustain) him, both for living and dying. There were no clouds to mar his heavenly faith, but it was clear, and so he was able to fall asleep, to rise again to his reward when the Lord calls. Brother Fredman will be missed in the work of the Lord and among his friends. He will also be missed in the congregation at Spruce Hill, where he was an elder in later years, and he will be especially missed by his family, where his place is now empty. But God will supply every need in Christ Jesus. God bless the near and dear ones until they all stand safely there at Home.

With brotherly (love?),

J. Thompson

We are hereby notifying relatives and friends that the Lord in His all-wise providence has called Home my beloved mate

CARL FREDMAN.

He fell asleep, still with his trust in Jesus, in his home on September 21, 1920 at the age of 57 years and 11 months. He was born in Nrunga socken, Västergötland, Sweden on October 21, 1862 and made the journey to America in 1883; he was converted to God in 1888. He entered into a marriage relationship with Ida Fredricka Ostlund on June 8, 1892. The marriage was blessed with 8 children, five sons and three daughters. Two of the sons had already been called home.
He settled first in Lowry, Minnesota until the year 1899 when he and his family moved to Spruce Hill, Douglas Country, Minnesota, where he has lived ever since. Sorrow and missing (loneliness) for a godly mate and good father is very deeply felt by us, his mate, three sons and three daughters; also a brother in Idaho.
We are glad that we do not need to sorrow as those others who have no hope, for the hope of seeing him again remains.
    Peace be to his memory.

Mrs. Ida Fredman and children.
